Give the gift of information, adventure and endless escapism with the Kobo Sage

If you have the itch to read, you know there is only two ways to scratch it. One – buying books (which includes thinking about and planning for the next book to read) and then two, the most important piece – is the actual reading of books. Sadly, the time allocated to reading is typically less than the time spent thinking about books or even buying them, which means piles of “to be read” (TBR) throughout the house become real physical hazards.

This is where the Kobo Sage comes in. This new, thought of everything, eReader can hold over 22,000 books with it’s heady 32gb of storage. Twenty-two-thousand. I feel almost giddy at the prospect of this many books in my virtual TBR pile.

“The Kobo Sage holds up to 22,000 books… is waterproof and record notes”. Is there anything it can’t do?

The Kobo Sage is lighter than I’d have expected, meaning gone are the days of lugging enormous paperbacks around and instead this 240g library will slide easily into a laptop bag, handbag or backpack at a sleek 7.1 x 6.3 x 0.2 inches.

With an 8-inch screen, the Kobo Sage gives the impression of a full page, closely mimicking the feeling of reading a physical book in a more realistic way than other eReaders or even tablets have to me previously.  The easy turn page buttons are useful, but also the touchscreen makes it simple to flick between pages. The 8” HD flush E Ink Carta 1200 touchscreen has a dark mode too, which reduces eye-strain. Plus with no blue light, it’s only your commitment to the story that will impact your sleep.

It’s this most impressive additional feature – the Kobo Stylus – a pen that Bluetooth connects with the Kobo Sage that really makes this eReader invaluable. For those who want to read fiction and non-fiction and even PDFs on the Kobo Sage, the stylus enables you to make notes, highlight text or even do a bit of editing and proof reading. Plus, there is a notes feature – perfect for meetings, but also diary entries while travelling. These note books can be exported to cloud-storage with DropBox (a built in feature).

“A sexy piece of literary tech”.

You can also listen to audiobooks with this device, so you never have to miss a word – even if you’ve decided to close your eyes for just a moment!

Ergonomically designed and waterproof, Kobo Sage can be with you from the conference table to the bathtub. You can also protect your Kobo Sage with the specifically designed SleepCover – for peace-of-mind. .

From a techy point of view, under the hood there is 1.8GHz quad core processor to keep the device running smoothly no matter the complexity of your reading, note taking or drawing on screen. There’s also the OverDrive (library), Pocket and Dropbox integrations making the Kobo Sage more than an eReader, but an essential tool and a sexy piece of literary-tech.

Most importantly, the Rakuten Kobo book store is filled with every book imaginable  – with over six million titles to choose from, no one will ever see your TBR list again. Plus you can connect to the library with OverDrive and truly have endless access to content.

The Kobo Sage is smart, as the name would suggest, both in terms of looks and it’s power. A perfect gift for any frequent traveller or commuter who has more than one task a day – and loves to read fiction, non-fiction, work documents and take notes all in one sitting. I know I flick between tasks on a long flight and this is now my go to device instead of physical book + iPad + pen + paper. Suddenly life is simplified.
