Bling it on. Michael Hill’s new augmented reality shopping experience launches

Beyonce called all the single ladies (all the single ladies) “Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it’.  Samantha from Sex & The City was at a Christies auction to bid for the flower ring ” The essence of me…because I am worth it”. Women have held a longstanding relationship with jewelry. Sometimes we longed for the right person to buy it for us, now we are empowered to buy our own! But these days, this comes with the challenges of facemasks, crowded shopping centres. So surely there is a better way…

Introducing new ways to discover, explore and shop for jewellery from the comfort of your home, Michael Hill have taken the shopping experience to the next level and has launched its complimentary ‘Virtual Personal Jeweller’ sessions and a ‘Virtual Ring Try-On’ functionality which uses augmented reality.

The new Michael Hill site

Intrigued, we entered the ring (section) and took the new virtual site for a spin. Finding the ring we liked (gold, simple and edgy) we clicked on the ‘Virtual Try-On’ functionality. Scanning the barcode with your phone the app takes you to your camera to take a picture of your hand. It then seamlessly uploads to the computer to ‘try’ on the ring. Moving mine to the middle finger, I am smitten with what I see.
Golden.
SOLD.

The ring arrived promptly within the week in a stunning lavender box…. and fit perfectly. (No mean feat for this writers rather LRG fingers).

The experience from scrolling online, try on and delivery was smooth and enjoyable and our new ring is glinting happily on this writers finger as this piece is being written.
