The beautiful things that are making us feel lux in lockdown

Spending all our time at home may mean track pants, sloppy tees, hair in buns along with little to no make up (unless we’re getting on a zoom call). While at the start this was refreshing, three weeks in iso (for us) and the casual-chic we were so enamoured of is fast becoming trag-chic. We need some things to help us feel calm, collected and just a bit bloody fabulous. So here are some of our recent finds, that we hope you enjoy.

A mist with purpose

Spritz with Mist
Mukti Organics Rose Blossom Mist
We’re not saying things are stressful (when they clearly are) but any stress we feel also, cruelly, plays havoc on our skin. We tend to make more cortisol when we’re stressed and that can cause breakouts as our skin makes more oil (yippee).  One way to mitigate stress is look for calming and soothing products with ingredients like aloe vera, rose, calendula, chamomile, mountain pepper berry and cucumber. Mukti Organics Rose Blossom Mist can be used multiple times per day and is made from Bulgarian rose petals, Kakadu Plum, Kangaroo Flower and Snowflower as well as aloe vera. It will calm your skin and is a deliciously scented pep up.  $54.95

Hydration station
Mukti Marigold Hydrating creme
We also love this luxuriously rich creme treatment, from Mukti Organics, suitable for incredibly dry skin. As the air cools our skin dries out and we need a deeply moisturising treatment for elasticity and suppleness.  The creme brings together calendula flowers, Gotu Kola extract, CoEnzyme Q10, Vitamin E and Roman Chamomile to soothe and calm redness and irritation.

It’s Australian made, vegan, cruelty free, nut and gluten free.  $74

Luxurious dry skin eliminator

Lips love Fluff
Fluff Casual Cosmetics – Lip Oil
Fluff is a new lip oil that will moisturise chapped and dry lips. Inside a silver cloud (because inside every cloud – there is a silver lining) is a refillable pot (7.5g) of oil. It comes in a mini velvet pouch, which feels like a lot of luxury while we’re working in track pants. The sliding silver cloud reminds us of a Georg Jensen designed cloud of silver beauty – so you know, lux squared.

Despite being called an oil, it’s not oily at all, but instead made of a bunch  of ingredients that combined, create a light coverage to protect lips  – all day. Created by one ex-founder of Frank this no scent lip balm that contains oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids for a non-greasy moisturising effect. Sunflower seed oil, vitamin E in sunflower seed oil is crucial to protect skin from environmental stressors. Other ingredients include argan oil, jojoba seed oil, liquid crystalline wax with essential fatty acids omega 6 & 9, which are anti-viral – and repair damaged skin cells. Also aloe vera for healing.  $26.

Fluff up up your lips

Focus on being Al.ive
Al.ive hand/body wash and hand/body lotion
At a time when we’re more obsessed than usual with washing our hands  (even for the biggest hygiene obsessed among us) you may as well use a product that is going to make you feel a little bit spesh. Founders Alisa and Lysandra Fraser are sisters and interior designers who have developed a range of naturally derived hand/body wash and hand/body lotion, A.Live in gorgeous packaging that interlocks. The product comes in a range of scents – kaffir lime & green tea; fig, apricot and sage; and coconut and wild orange.

Another Australian-made and developed product using essential oils and native botanical extracts, 100% vegan and very importantly palm oil free. The packaging design is splendid – with containers looking fitting (pun intended) on the bench. $79 for both.

These are fitting as a body lotion and hand wash

Hopefully, no matter what you doing to keep yourself feeling on top of the world you are getting some pampering while in lock down.
