Jabili’s Kitchen Pops Up on Smith Street

jabDo you ever get that feeling when you’re sitting in a bar and you’re craving African food? Ok that specific craving may not have actually happened, but we bet you’ve been craving some sort of delicious street tucker? Tacos? Burgers? Or maybe something a little left of centre? Well, the team at Los Barbudos and Mr Wow’s Emporium can satisfy…they’re bringing street food to Smith Street with their new African inspired pop-up, Jabili’s Kitchen.

While these two bars have dished out samplings from all of the Melbourne food trucks for a while now, this is a collaboration all of their own.

Brought to us by the former Rice Queen Head Chef, Tanzania born Jabili Mchawala, Jabili’s Kitchen will be serving up a special menu that has been created for both venues.

While you sip your drinks at either Mr Wow’s or Los Barbudos you can order the likes of Za’atar Crisps, a dish of fried parsnips with Za’atar and lemon yoghurt, Tunisian Tacos, a mix of yoghurt braised lamb shoulder with dukkah, tabbouleh and coriander sauce, or the grilled Moroccan soft bun filled with spiced lentils, pine nuts, figs, tofu aioli and red cabbage slaw.

If your craving is more of the order-now-eat-later kind, takeaway options are also available.

The pop up will run on Thurs & Fri 5pm-11pm, Sat 6pm-12am, Sun 4pm-10pm (with plans to open seven days in the future).
