Raise Your Glasses for the Autumn Champagne Guide

Eureka Pop Up Bar

You don’t always need a special occasion to pop open a bottle of bubbly – but if you do, here’s a few events that are the perfect excuse for a champagne or two.

Eureka Pop Up Bar – 14th March

So, if your man is mad about car racing, he’s been talking about the best spots to sneak into Albert Park for the past few weeks. It’s that time of year again, when the Formula 1 Grand Prix races into town. This year, treat him to a birds eye view of all the action from the top of the city. Melbourne’s highest bar, Eureka 89, is holding a pop up bar on Friday 14th so you can sip champagne and watch the sunset, while he looks down on the race.

The Roosevelt

The Roosevelt – 26th March

Drinking French champagne is not something most of us do every day. It’s a special treat and deserves some special attention. At Potts Point’s swish art deco cocktail bar, the atmosphere is just right. Think leather arm chairs and crystal flutes. On Tuesdays, it’s wine tasting night and the mood is even better – on the 26th March Moet & Chandon Brand Ambassador Garth Forster will take drinkers through the art of French champagne, from the sabrage through to the sipping.

Handa Opera

Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour

Ah the Opera. Beloved by many, boring to some – but this is no ordinary opera. The annual Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is back. This year it’s Madama Butterfly and the stage is an even bigger stage set out over the waterfront at Mrs Macquaries Point. What could make this night even more special? Forget picnics and fried food – this year there’ll be 3-course Japanese inspired meals for those who want to go all out at the Platinum Club. If the Opera is extravagant enough, stop by the site’s Sparkling and Oysters Carts for freshly shucked Pambula Lake Oysters and other Japanese treats, and a glass of bubbly. Buy a glass of Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir Chardonnay Brut or their Ashmans Brut. Or buy a bottle and take it back to your seat. Ah, the opera.

Bollinger’s Birthday Bash – 6th April

50 years is a big birthday. Usually the sort of event you celebrate with a few glasses of Champagne. Well, when you’re celebrating 50 years of a special Bollinger drop, you know there might be more than a few bottles involved.

Bollinger is celebrating the birth of its R.D Champagne half a century ago with events around the world. We’ve got the inside scoop on Melbourne’s black tie soiree, happening in a private penthouse in the city, with some big Bollinger names in tow. The event is invite only and Daily Addict readers, that means you! The top secret venue will be revealed when you reserve your spot.

The dress code is black and gold, and we’re guessing there’ll be plenty of bling and a lot of bubbles.
