The Argyle Understands Women

The Argyle 3The Argyle understands women. Ok, the cobblestones aren’t great for heels, but there’s an oh-so-handy ballet flat vending machine, there are plenty of loos, and the ladies are just as close to the bar as the mens, and they do carb on carb.

Carb on carb? Let us elaborate. There’s something so fabulous about the taste of carb on carb, a.k.a Potato on Pizza. You’ll find it at The Argyle Canteen, the Argyle’s brand new eating area, tucked just inside the front doors. The dumpling bar is gone and the wood fire pizza oven is in.

Pizza chef Andrea Fontana makes sure that the oven gets plenty of use, pumping out pizzas for lunch, dinner and well into the night.

Aside from the Patate (the mouth watering potato, rosemary, truffle oil and garlic pizza you must start your meal with), there’s 11 other pizzas to try.

The rest of the menu covers just about everything else – steak, parma, wagyu and pulled pork burgers – but it’s the Italian dishes that really shine.

Load up on your carbs with the pizza, order the veal and pork meatballs for your protein fix and try caprese salad for your vegies. The buffalo, like many of the kitchen’s ingredients is the real deal and imported from Italy.

The Argyle certainly likes to cover all bases – and its strengths are definitely beyond the standard pub fare. Get your Italian fix at the Canteen and then continue the night at Bar Ananas, where they’ve worked out the key to guilt-free cocktails.

Bar Ananas has just unveiled a brand new cocktail team, with staff from just about every top Sydney drinking den. Since leaving the likes of Shady Pines and Eau de Vie, they’ve been busy putting together a new drinks menu that’s all about having a bit of fun.

They probably don’t enjoy hand-juicing fruit for a few hours before each night, but the fresh local produce brings plenty of drinks to life and ensures you don’t feel too guilty in the morning.

Absolutely Ananas is the bar’s signature tipple and it’s “sticky and spicy”, with fresh pineapple juice and plenty of vodka, and the grapefruit juice in the Hail Mary definitely has a kick.

With Vivid kicking off this week, The Argyle is ready to go, with plenty of food, drinks and fun times for whatever your taste buds desire.
