Semillons that sing

Hunter Valley Semillon and Seafood Festival
The French can keep their fancy bubbly and Kiwis can have their Pinot because we’ve got some of the world’s best Semillon amongst us.

Hunter Valley Semillon is described by international wine experts as “Australia’s wine gift to the world”. A bit like boasting that you’re God’s gift to (wo)men, except with the region producing 150 Semillons – including latest releases, vintage treasures, sparkling and dessert styles – it can back up the claim.

The weekend festival has more than 20 Semillon-inspired activities and a chance to mingle with some of the region’s legendry winemaking families; Bruce Tyrrell, Keith Tulloch and 2008 Winemaker of the Year Andrew Thomas.

Chef Andrew Clarke of famed two hatted Rock Restaurant will be hosting cooking demonstrations of char grilled Balmain bugs, with local restaurants keeping to the theme of gourmet seafood dishes combined with the best of local produce.
