Mecca me an espresso

Dear self-confessed coffee aficionado, eagerly pounding the pavement in search of the latest infectious hit. This one’s for you.

Take a stroll along Harris Street, Ultimo. Disconnect from the outside world and step into the newly refurbished surrounds on offer at Mecca Espresso.

This is the brainchild of humble coffee beantrepreneur Paul Geshos, who says he has “high hopes to educate a generation”. Just as the name implies, Mecca Espresso is the coffee disciple’s equivalent to the Holy Grail. If it’s a ‘wake me up’, ‘let’s grab a brew’ or ‘get me through the day’ fix you’re after, then it’s game on.

There’s a clever twist to the conventional menu, and we recommend you try the ham and mustard fruits or the san choy bow inspired chicken sambo.

But if you’re just here for the caffeine and higher learning, grab a stool and nestle your way over to the siphon, patiently perched on display in the farthest corner of the café. You’d be forgiven for mistaking the contraption as none other than a refined looking piece of science-lab equipment, but if you’re lucky to catch Geshos, ask him about the delicate apparatus and to whip up one of his masterfully crafted brews.

Good things come to those who wait.
