Carbs are King at The Dough Collective

The Dough Collective 3Sandwiched right next to Mizuya on George Street, The Dough Collective is fulfilling a much kneaded gap in the bakery aisle. Ok, we could go on and on with the bread puns but there’s no need to butter you up. The newest Sydney CBD bakery is a slice above your humble Asian-style bakery. Ok, we promise, that’s it for the puns.

In all seriousness, The Dough Collective is taking the self-serve bakery to a new level. With more than 58 types of bread, all made on site in the bakery out the back, you won’t find anything stale nor boring. Yes, if you’re a white bread person, you can pick up a loaf, but if you consider yourself more of a double choc finger roll fan, then here’s your spot.

From lychee bread, fruit scones, chocolate baguettes, ham and cheese toast and gourmet hot dogs, to sweet potato and cream cheese knots, raisin rings, garlic twists and Chinese Goji berry rolls, The Dough Collective is not afraid to experiment with shapes and flavours. You’ll find buns, bagels, bread rolls, loafs, toast, twists and even a cheese triangle. One of the most popular bites is The Crown, made on cream cheese and condensed milk. And Single Origin Roasters coffee to go.

If you’re afraid to have a bit of fun with your food, or afraid of carbs, this is not the place for you. But for everyone else, go hungry. There’s tasting samples for every type of bread and the smell from the bakery out the back will make your mouth water.
