A Yoga Studio that Hums

Yoga studios are popping up everywhere at the moment. Especially on the south side. But when we heard about Humming Puppy, our ears pricked up just a little faster. What kind of name is Humming Puppy for a yoga studio right? That’s when we found out that the studio literally hums.

The studio has been designed with ARUP a leading acoustic engineer and has been injected with a range of frequencies that are said to deepen your yoga practice. A combination of 7.83hz and 40hz. It’s said that when exposed to these, we are more easily able to produce matching frequencies within ourselves. Why is that good you might ask? Well, 7.83hz is the frequency of the earth and will help you become really grounded on the mat. 40hz on the other hand is associated with gamma brainwave activity, which is helpful in peak performance and is more prevalent in elite athletes, musicians, and high achievers in general. Don’t over think it; just let it do its thing while you do yours.

Speaking of doing your thing, there is a range of classes available, all in a room heated to 27 degrees. Dynamic Hum is a high intensity vinyasa style class, Unified Hum is a medium intensity style class balancing dynamic and restorative elements, Mellow Hum is low intensity and includes gentle flowing movements and long deep stretching, and the Deepen Your Hum is a longer 90 minute class which is more like a workshop allowing students to deepen their practice. While having a lot of fun.
