In the dark cupping room with Campos

God that smells, and tastes so very good. That earthy, roasty goodness, deep and rich in the body and balanced well on the tongue. The aftertaste lingering and pleasant, and not at all sour…

You must have found Sydney’s first Cupping Room, just launched by coffee epiphany specialists Campos Specialty Coffee.

This is the room that offers a complete theatrical, sensory experience – an education, if you will, on the many nuances of the humble coffee bean and what goes on behind the roasting scenes.

Head up a mysteriously dark flight of stairs in the Newtown premises to be met by a room filled with cups and the smell of roasting coffee beans. Your eyes adjust in the deliberately darkened room, a measure to heighten and focus your senses.

This is where you’ll experience a guided tasting session which the industry calls ‘cupping’, a term which describes the ‘evaluation’ process which happens when coffee beans are bought and sold around the world.

Discover coffee distinctions and learn the differences between regions and processing methods. Let your coffee cup runneth over.
