West 14th

Violeta Tentomas is the kind of woman who spends her workdays in Bondi, her holidays in NYC and her other holidays taking travel snaps for Vogue.

But while you can’t have the expat New Yorker’s frequent flyer points, you can raid her wardrobe. In a sense.

Tentomas’ new label West 14th is a monochromatic mix of luxe materials and a global mindset. The first is fine leather studded with high impact details and the latter has taken her from the Meatpacking District to Bondi Beach.

But anyway, enough with the jealousy-prompting. Write your own stories in edgy separates including grit-glam biker jackets, supple draped vests, leather skinnies and thigh-skimming shorts. In the winter 2013 collection you can find ultra-luxe shearling from Italy and Iceland, distressed goat leather from India and velvety cowhide leather from Japan.

Each garment is designed to be versatile and to look just as good with a little wear and tear, so even stories that start with getting splashed by a passing bus on your way to work can still end with scoring a free cocktail carafe at Palings. Consider them investment pieces without the investment piece price tag.

Sometimes good style is as simple as black and white.
