The Bourbon A new flame touches down in Kings Cross

In 1967 Kings Cross, a rough adventuress touched down. Infamous for courting gangsters, hookers, suspicious characters and every varietal of liquid gold lover that fell on her door step. That was up until 18 months ago.

The beloved floozy is gone but the name still lingers. Remember The Bourbon? Well, she’s back! Like Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina, finishing school was kind to her and boy does she scrub up just swell.

The result is a Southern charm come New Orleans Diner. Favored by cool-cat businessmen and refined broads alike. Why, you like to roll? In the words of Dionne Warwick… “Walk on by”.

You in the mood for some harmless fun though? You’ve come to the right place kid. There’s Chef James Metcalfe (formerly of Becasse and Etch) in the corner. He looks like he could scat as good as the best and one thing that’s certain is his colorful menu. It’s all about sharing, grazing and feasting. Did someone say food envy? Not here boss.

Settle in and order yourself  some crackling. Wash it down with a glass of the ‘Slurpy Puppy’ shiraz. Make friends with the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp creole butter and spiced salt that even Michelle Bridges couldn’t knock back.

Providing guests with all the bells and whistles of a stripper but without the nudity. Be sure to return on the weekend and sample the sounds of the resident Bourbon Band.

Timeless luxury is on your side. Pack your dancing shoes – You’ll be up on your pins in no time.
