Cornerstone Bar & Food

We really do miss you, John and Peter Canteen.

But why were your menus more concerned with Italian linguistics than local talent?

And why did you whitewash all over Carriageworks’ beautiful industrial bones?

It’s normal to have questions after the death of a loved one. But the mourning period is over – and Carriagework’s new hub for the culture-hungry will give you plenty to celebrate about.

Featuring an all-star lineup of homegrown talent, Cornerstone is a feast for all your senses.

Set design is by Humphrey and Edwards, starring industrial aesthetics combined with lush hanging gardens. The big stars are after-five share plates like wagyu beef and gruyere sliders, crispy school prawns and salt cod croquettes, with backup support from unpretentious toasted sandwiches and homemade pie.

Sink into a luxe Chesterfield couch bathed in warm yellow light, and raise a post-show toast with a Young Henrys ale — shipped from all the way down the other end of King Street.

For warmer nights there’s outdoor seating and strings of fairy lights, and for when it’s not yet the fun side of midday, there’s coffee from Little Marionette.

Getting your regular theatre fix just got that much more appetising.
