Highland Park Viking Whisky New Release

Highland Park, knows whisky – well its being going for 223 years so it should do by now! Based on the Orkney Islands off the northeastern coast of Scotland, it has launched a new, 15 Year old single malt Scotch Whisky, Viking Heart which arrives in a stunning ceramic bottle in a collaboration with UK based Wade Ceramics. Created from casks hand-selected by Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, it has a high percentage of first-fill European oak sherry seasoned casks (thinks yummy warm, dry spicy notes) while first-fill American oak sherry seasoned casks give a soft vanilla flavour. It’s a rich and complex, just think freshly-baked sponge cake, warm from the oven, and you’ll find cinnamon again and lovely waves of peat smoke. You can buy for $185.00 a bottle at selected leading Independent retailers, a list of key stockists can be found here.

Karen’s corporate job back in the UK had included entertaining clients in some of the best restaurants. This ultimately sparked a curiosity 'Just how do they do that?' (she confesses she was brought up on meat and vegetables, so this was all very exciting). Currently a Mr & Mrs Smith 'Tastemaker', she’s flashpacked around the world, learning about wine, experiencing different cultures and cuisines and had a two- year love affair with it all. Originally from England, she finally settled in Australia and continues to be besotted by food, wine and travel preferring to focus on the luxury end of town (thread count does matter).
