Product Review: Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO – because we love the clean this machine brings

I love to clean. Cleaning gives me a sense of completion and a clear input = reward. Call me a weirdo, you won’t be the first, but it brings me so much satisfaction to see what was once dirty is now organised and like new.

The fly in the ointment is that I live with both a man and a beautiful chocolate lab, who both fill me with joy – but sure do know how to bring dirt into our home. One sheds constantly and the other has four muddy paws (such a classic joke), but between the mud, the fur and the guy that can’t wipe down a kitchen bench, I am pretty much in constant cleaning heaven.

So when the chance came to review the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO (after our fabulous Karen reviewed the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO S7 PRO) I jumped up and down like Tom Cruise on the Oprah couch.

The total joy of this toy (and I say toy because for me the buttons and the lights  are additional fun), is the fact that dirt is being gamified around the home. The Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO, like the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO has a dirt/dust sensor and when it turns from red to blue (dirty to clean) it’s like winning at the pokies. Ding, Ding, Ding, no more dirt here!

She’s a beauty, isn’t she?

Putting the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO together:

Everything arrives in parts these days. However, this was so basic to put together. It’s basically the Apple Mac of cleaners. Ready Set Go. I managed it by myself and was a bit smug about it too.

Cleaning:

Two tanks in the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO , one for clean water and one for dirty. Because I can’t read instructions I put the clean water in the dirty tank first (much like Karen did – so it seems overzealous cleaners do the same thing).  The Cleaner tells you what to do, quite literally by letting me know I need to put water in the tank. The robotic voice is very instructive. I love my little cleaning buddy who tells me to fill up the water tank, empty the dirty tank, and put back on charge for self cleaning. She’s my main squeeze right now.

The Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO cleaner itself does require some cleaning. Like the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO , you have to pull it all apart, rinse it out and leave to dry. The roller is the the only bit that’s self cleaned. The Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO cleans itself more than the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO – but it’s not that much of a difference!

The satisfying bit though, is how filthy the water is – all the time. Like I said, mud must be embedded into the pores of our hard wood floors as I’ve cleaned them three times and the water was filthy to begin with and less so with each clean. Oddly satisfying. What a perfect Saturday achievement! Filthy to less filthy. It really does make me wonder how much absolute squalor I’m sitting in, even though I spray and wipe the living proverbial out of everything…so this tells me the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO is really adding value to my cleaning routine.

Differences between the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO and the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO

So you’re considering what your cleaning routine could look like with one of these miraculous Tineco Hard Floor Cleaners and can’t decide between the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO and Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO

The Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO and Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO have many features in common. I’d suggest the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO’s water tank empties much faster and I had to refill the tank 3 times to do our floors. But it’s a minor inconvenience for the price difference. The
Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO has a precise control of water that the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO lacks.

So many good features in the S5

The ultra mode in Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO is also not available in the
Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO – which is like cleaning action on steroids. But innovation has a price and you should decide how must it’s worth to you. The edge cleaning in the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO is dual, while in the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO it’s single, meaning you have to do small areas twice along the edges, each way, to ensure you get into every little nook and cranny. Again not a big deal – but it may not be for everyone – especially those who don’t jump for joy at the dirt alarm.

The run time is slightly less at 35 mins with the Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO vs the 40 min in the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO and there is no LED headlight like in the new sibling. Other than that -the two machines are quite similar and both impressive.

If you have a smaller size family or an average Sydney-sized home the
Tineco FLOOR ONE S5 PRO is perfect. If you’ve got kids and dogs or a very large home the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO is likely more your speed.

Both clean the heck out of the floor with such a fast-evidence-based outcome that you won’t go wrong with either in your home. Honestly some of the best fun I’ve had this year.

When our Tineco arrived for the review it was perplexing! Is this a tech empowered car or a vacuum? I haver been living with the all new FLOOR ONE S7 PRO for a few weeks - I like to think of it as Tesla, with a screen, automated help, propulsion and interactive displays. This is the vacuum you buy for wooden, tiled, concrete floors. It's your equivalent of a Vidal Sassoon shampoo and set.
