Run, donut walk. Loukoumades Greek Street is the dessert delight fit for the gods.

Loukoumades Greek Street have recently reached the milestone of their second Birthday. With Christmas and the New Years festivities also just around the corner, they were excited to celebrate and share their story (and desserts!) with us.

Created in 2017, Loukoumades Greek Street is owned by Sergio Gianni and Daniel Evans.  They wanted to create something unique for Australia that also draws on their family history and well-loved cooking traditions. And so Loukoumades Greek St – or ‘The most instagrammable world first Greek Donuts’ – was born. As soon as we stepped foot in the venue we were met with a warm welcoming atmosphere. The fit out was designed and largely built by Sergio and he goes on to explain the focus there was to create a casual welcoming atmosphere (they are well known  to have lines of people out the door, so must be on to something.) The space has recently been revamped to celebrate their two year birthday with the addition of  incredible graffiti artwork by @eggzest depicting Greek imagery on the walls.

“Family is important to us. We used an original recipe from Daniel’s grandfather that has been shared and taught to each generation to the next generation.” says Sergio. “We want to push boundaries and be unique yet have worked to create and maintain a nice balance –  being advanced yet pay homage to the traditional flavours and methods of our heritage.”

The product itself is nothing short of delicious and HIGHLY instagramable! We tried both recipes and found it no surprise that these little honey ball morsels were nicknamed a ‘dessert fit for the gods’. The dough puffs are fried to perfection and they offer a variety of topping flavours and combinations. We would have to say the mild salted caramel and pistachio was our pick and will have you licking your fingers for Every.Last.Bit. We washed down the delectable #GreekDonuts with their lemon iced tea which was refreshing and delightful on such a hot summer’s day.

It’s not hard to see why they have taken Sydney (and social media!) by storm with their inventive and mouth watering desserts.
