Sakura High Tea is served at West Hotel Sydney

Pink clouds of blossomy delight and delicacies out of a fairytale are on the menu at the Sakura Tea Party at Solander Dining and Bar at the West Hotel Sydney. To celebrate the rites of spring we indulge in exquisite confections from Poached Prawn, Fennel & Spiced Mayo Buns saffron to Mixed Petit Cakes and assorted macarons.

Beautiful blossoms and tasty treats

There’s a complimentary cocktail – or mocktail (ours a delicious iced Earl Grey aromatic with orange) – on arrival. Then a choice between a traditional pot of tea or “tipsy tea” – tea spiked with vodka. For what is High Tea without tea? A fragrant pot arrive, the perfect refreshment as we alternate between our elegant Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Open Sandwiches and gleaming mini eclairs – featuring salted caramel, chocolate and raspberry.

Freshly baked scones, whipped cream + jam

The blackcurrant jam was an absolute star: dark, rich and twinklingly tart on the freshly-baked scones. However you pronounce “scone” (we rhyme it with “gone”) these were indisputably glorious. And no matter what array of fancies and delights a high tea features, ultimately it’s all about the scones. These were fluffy and light and perfect.

The Sakura Tea Party runs every Saturday from 2pm-4pm until Saturday the 14th of October at West Hotel Sydney, Curio Collection by Hilton. Priced at Priced at $65 per person, you can add bottomless house wine, sparkling and beer for $20 extra. From the 21st October the Sakura Tea Party will transform into an Afternoon Tea Party.
