Life these days isn’t just about being fit, healthy, and getting some exercise – It’s about having the data to show that you actually did. Like most people, I myself am my own biggest judge and harshest critic. So, when the slick white box with my Huawei Watch Fit 4 pro arrived, it was a mix of trepidation and delight.
The Packaging
Much like all smart devices these days, packaging is simple. Little to no instructions provided, just a box with a warranty and the sexiest slim watch anyone did ever see. The anticipation of opening it, not knowing what colour it was, only to be overjoyed with something unique A. Mustard green strap. It has ease in fitting on tightly, not too strong and constricting but snug and firm – the perfect fit. Not having worn a watch for some time, this just slid right on.
The Pairing
It was easy to download the app from the app store on my phone, and for the non-technologically savvy person like myself, I managed to pair instantly. A big win.

The Watch Face
I could stare at this face forever and still not get bored. Potentially distracting because after putting it on my wrist, all my conversations have been disrupted by the vast array of features going on. I’m still in awe of sheer information that’s displayed on a single face and it took me a while to stop being memorized. Sure, there’s the time constantly ticking by, the day, the date, my step count, the weather. Then there’s also my sleep score, the sunset, heart rate and my general demeanour rings. Amazing how just a simple glance at a watch can educate in a world of different ways.
The Features
A sports fanatic’s dream come true
Too many to list, but the big plus side of this watch is definitely the Fitness (hence “pro Fit). Obviously being a smart watch it has the basics, but this goes next level. It includes every sport you can possibly, think of, and every sport you cant. I’m talking kendo , hula hoop, plaza dancing, kite flying, fishing, sepak tarkaw (still no idea what that is) and many more. The fact that it can track so many different sports gives me inspiration to start thinking outside the box and trying something new. But not only does it allow me to track exercise with precision and detail ( last run, 5.19min av pace, fastest split 4.59min), how many calories I’ve burned (yes to that extra donut) and my progress, if I do forget to switch it on, this has an auto detect. So, for the avid golfer out there, you just need to swing your clubs, and this watch will know exactly what you’re doing.

Rings of Success
There are a rainbow of three target rings, red, yellow, and blue. Each one denotes a different activity target. Red means move. If I’ve been lazing too long on the couch, and can’t see that hallow ticking over, I know that it’s time to get off my butt and do something. Yellow is exercise, and the mere vision inspires me to experiment with new tricks. Lastly, the blue ring is for standing. When I’ve been sitting at my desk, tirelessly checking emails, and time seems to wither away, I feel a gentle buzz on my arm. A small, but poignant reminder that I should stand up. Whilst subtle, it’s a perfect little teaser to get me up for a stretch break and my body thanks me afterward.
Sleep
One of the biggest challenges in so many people’s lives is Sleep. I thought it would be difficult to sleep with a watch, but I was surprised at how comfortable it is. Also rather encouraging when I wake up in the morning, and I see an 85% sleep score. Here I was thinking I didn’t get enough, but this little boost of positivity, has made my day! Conversely however, I was a little disappointed at my 74% score after thinking I got some good shut eye. But clearly those Netflix shows are affecting my restful sleep, and extra incentive to turn it off before binging to the next episode.

Wellbeing
Stress is a factor that exists in all of our lives and often cannot be avoided. It is good however to be alarmed when stress levels get too high. The Huawei is a good indicator on when it’s time to slow down, take a breath, and control stress levels. There is an accurate gauge about my emotional well-being, which includes a pointer of ‘Pleasant’ ‘Neutral’ and ‘Unpleasant’ moments in my day. It turns out, the 8 am tantrum by my 4-year-old, was as stressful as my 1:30 pm client meeting. Constructively now looking at ways on mitigating stress triggers. Conversely, it was lovely to see my pleasant moments. Time checking, 10.32am was when I was having coffee and laughing uncontrollably with my best friends, and 6.28pm was precisely when my beautiful family were singing me a happy birthday. Some warm moments to cherish, and a good reminder from the watch that life is to be treasured.

Price and value
Compared to its competitors (no names just a fruit) this is one level up in terms of complexity, features, and game changing data capture for your sporty lifestyle. It’s slick, sexy, and a pleasure to wear. Plus, battery life can be up to 10 days – insanely helpful! All in all, for the price it’s a good deal.
What we’re addicted to? Accurate data tracking, motivation to push yourself to your highest limit, and a good self-reflection on where you’re at from Stress, Sleep Fitness and maximising well-being.
What we need to be more addicted? Sadly the WATCH FIT 4 Series does not support NFC payments, which means I still have to lug around my phone if I want to do a shop.
The Huawei WATCH FIT 4 Series is available from $299, pre-orders available from May 16 with up to $100 gift card and to purchase from May 28, 2025 from Amazon and JB Hi-Fi online or in store. For more information, please refer to http://consumer.huawei.com/au/wearables/watch-fit4-pro/
