Bondi’s Hidden Day Spa sends you straight To Wonderland

To WonderlandHave you been To Wonderland? We have. On the quiet, suburban end of Glenayr Avenyue, just off Blair St, is where you’ll find it.

No, we’re not talking about the short lived TV show, although that too came from Bondi. We’re talking about the beautiful boutique day spa that Bondi locals try to keep their little secret.

Now owned by Bondi local, yogi and meditation instructor Adie Robertson, To Wonderland is a world away from the waves of Bondi Beach. Or even the hipster cafes just back from the sand. Step inside and breathe deeply – soak up the subtle scent of candles, test out the ‘Wonder cream’ that’s stacked on the counter, read a few positive affirmations and learn a little more about the pretty bottles of Auro-Soma colour therapy oils. The spa hits the perfect combination of the minimalist bliss that you need to escape from the world and the decadence of pretty tea light candles and gilded baroque mirrors that make pampering so special. Adie’s mission is to create a haven for wellbeing, and we’d say she’s hit the mark.

Her other mission is to help her guests achieve deep relaxation, to restore balance and rejuvenation. How is that done? With some serious talented therapists and a well thought out menu of treatments – we’re talking everything from massages and facials to naturopathy and nutrition, there’s even colonics. Don’t expect to find the stock standard offering. When it comes to massage, you have three options. The Truly, Madly, Deeply, the Lightness of Being, or a French Aromatherapy Lympathic. If you’re looking to ease away the aches and pains of everyday life (who isn’t?!), the Truly, Madly, Deeply is a deep tissue massage with a difference. British expat Andy is an ex-Thai boxer/personal trainer turned masseuse who knows how to use his elbow to undo all the knots of workouts, bad posture and too much desk time. Don’t worry, you’ll still get a chance to relax, with a combination of deep tissue work and soothly relaxation techniques. It’s the perfect combination, one that is customised each and every time to your exact needs. Booked in for an hour but got a really sore shoulder? Andy will concentrate his efforts there first and foremost but still make sure you get a quick scalp massage (always the best part!).

If you’re into scrubbing away the sins of the season, or just getting back to baby smooth, sign up for “Born Again” – birch oil, sea salt and coconut oil scrub. There’s also Osmosis facials, signature Aeos facials, a Skin Fit Workout facial that gets your skin back in shape, and for the adventure, specalised “Man” and “Woman” steaming experiences.

Forget soy lattes and acai bowls, if you want a Bondi makeover, To Wonderland you go!
