The Fernery, Mosman goes français for Brunch

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, Monsieur Le Croissant?

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental but nothing says Vive La France like croissants and a round of pétanque under the trees. Except today we’re throwing the silver boules under the ferny foliage of The Fernery, Mosman for the Croissants & Pétanque French-themed Sunday brunch.

The Fernery is the rooftop bower on the top of Mosman Club. It’s an airy, green oasis with panoramic views across Sydney, and plenty of dining space inside and out. Ferns and other green plants trail down from the celling, as though you’re inside a spacious, elegant greenhouse. It’s chic but relaxed, and the perfect venue for a leisurely brunch.

The Choc Cookie Crumble Croissants are no ordinary croissants. They’re flaky butter-rich crescents that have bedecked themselves with nougat, ice cream and flowers, kicked aside their compatriots on the boulangerie shelf and flown off to the patisserie. Crumbled with rich chocolate cookies, they’re large enough to share (but you probably won’t want to).

Liberté, égalité, fraternité – brie, truffle and asparagus

For the more savoury inclined, the Truffle, Brie and Asparagus Croissant is a super-rich, unctuous confection of molten cheese, tender asparagus stems, generous flakes of truffle with an optional slice of prosciutto. It’s a meal in itself, but we can’t resist adding a bowl of truffled potato fries, which are crisp and very moreish.

Joe Le Taxi makes a pitstop for this one…

Also on the menu français: Fernery Steak Frites with Sweet Potato Frites and Café de Paris butter, and a Parmesan Crumbed Veal Cutlet with Sweet Potato Frites and a Fennel and Herb Salad. No frogs legs or escargots, though.

La Vie En Rose at The Fernery, Mosman

Whether you’re toasting your sporting victory or drowing your sorrows, there are bubbles to renew and referesh the spirits. Live la vie en rose with Excuse My French Rosé or Villa AIX Rosé Glass.

The Fernery: Rooftop 719 Military Rd, Mosman NSW 2088 – (02) 8459 9410 Opens Wed-Sun 11am to Late (Midnight Fri-Sat). Enquiries: Papaya PR
