If you’re living in Melbourne and don’t reside under a rock you’d know that Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck is opening in Melbourne. ‘Tickets’ are over $500 a head, and you need to win a ballot to purchase said tickets. A little insane, yes? We’ve been over in our heads all the things we could buy for that price and now we can add four tickets to the inaugural Skinny Duck dinner to that list. The Skinny Duck wants to feed Melbourne and they’re doing that by providing all profits from the event to FareShare, an organisation in Melbourne that brings food to the less fortunate. The funds raised will help underprivileged Victorians have a decent meal.
Tickets for the Skinny Duck evening are $120 and you’ll get to sample 14 different canapés that have been created by some of Melbourne’s best chefs including Adam d’Sylva from Coda/Tonka, Jacques Reymond from L’Hotel Gitan, Tony Twitchett from Taxi Kitchen, Scott Pickett from Estelle and Saint Crispin, Michael Reid from Jardin Tan, and Daniel Wilson from Huxtable. There will of course be many a beverage to go along with these canapés. It wouldn’t be Melbourne if there weren’t. While that takes care of the edibles and drinkables, Henry Wagons and Dukes of Debonaire will be taking care of the music.
Oh and ironically you’ll get a chance to win two tickets to the infamous Fat Duck. Heston Blumenthal has donated two tickets to the Skinny Duck to auction off on the night to raise more funds. That might just kill two ducks with the one ticket.
