Inspired by the “glamour, grit and ritual of the speakeasy era”, Barnes & Brown was created due to rising demand for non-alcoholic spirits in Australia.
We were delighted with Lady Juniper, a “dry, botanical hit of juniper, black pepper, and lemon myrtle, layered with floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom” – there’s a wonderfully aromatic bitter lemon note with a piquant peppery hit that lingers and tingles on the palate.
Miss Agave
Equally intoxicating (if not literally) was Miss Agave, conjured from “distilled agave spirit, chamomile, and black pepper” – whether straight on-the-rocks or slammed, frosted with sugar or salt – enjoy a sophisticated sip with a gentle fiery burn to warm you up as the mercury plummets.
Another new flavour is Señorita Bianco, who “channels the tropical soul of Cuban-style white rum with notes of sugarcane, oak vanilla and dried fruit”.
