The Calile Hotel is Brisbane’s new hot spot

Okay Brisbane, the cat is out of the bag. It’s official, the Calile is the coolest new hotel in town. We’d even go one step further and say this brand new hotel is one of the coolest urban hotels in the country.

Fortitude Valley’s James Street is home to this 175 room hotel that transports you straight from Brisbane to California – swaying palm trees, a serious pool scene, top notch food, a killer spa and rooms in a dreamy pastel pink, beige and gold palette that just works. The question is, where did this modernist, Palm Springs-inspired luxe hotel come from?

This is the first real design hotel from TFE, the hotel brand behind Adina, Vibe, Travelodge and Rendezvous, which are certainly known for great locations and great prices. However, this hotel is definitely something extra. You’ll find local and interstate ‘it’ crowd around the pool every day of the week – soaking up the delicious poolside vibe from one of the dusty green cabanas,  spritz in hand.

The pool is guest only, even better, hotel guests have access to a cluster of outdoor tables spilling out from Hellenika, the hotel’s Greek restaurant that has the hottest tables in town right now. No booking and not a guest? Good luck. The original Hellenika on the Gold Coast has a cult like following, and Brisbane foodies are lapping up the signature Kolokithia zucchini ‘chips’ and sizzling saganaki. The slow cooked lamb sells out pretty quick up here too. Just make sure you save room for baklava for dessert.

Lunch and dinner, the pool and restaurant are chilled out but busy, if you’re after some true peace and quiet, on the same floor is the KAILO Wellness Medispa. Pampering is the name of the game in this pink, pretty spa. There are 10 treatment rooms, with each guest welcomed with a tray of raw almonds, wet towel, silver gum leaves and a rose quartz crystal. Settle in for massages, facials, even IV vitamin therapy or a session with the Cosmetic Medicine specialist.

Need a little retail therapy? The Calile’s ground floor bar and café shares space with our superstar designers – Dion Lee, Camillaa and Marc, Carla Zampatti and Venroy to name a few.
