Adamo’s Pasta lets you be the Masterchef

Adamos Pasta 2For some of us, the return of Masterchef to our TV screens signals the return of that familiar feeling of inadequacy.

Watching contestants showoff their culinary skills while we eat packet pasta or gasp, instant noodles, is a little sad.

Luckily, for those of us who can’t whip up strips of fresh linguine in minutes, let alone under the pressure of a big giant stopwatch, there’s always Adamos Pasta.

Alexandria’s very own pasta shop serves hordes of hungry lunch workers, with queues sometimes out the door. It has just expanded into the space next door, with a new deli and eat-in area.

Lunchtime aside, Adamo’s really comes handy for those us who don’t have time or the inclination to slave away in the kitchen.

The kitchen keeps cooking until 7pm so you can drive by and pick up a fresh tray of lasagna to pop in the oven, or how about pumpkin gnocchi that’s sure to impress your foodie friends.

Everything is made on site – the parmesan is grated straight from big wheels of Italian cheese, the handmade Siciliana sauce has an almost cult following and the weekly production of around 300-400 kilos of fresh pasta keeps patrons happy.

Beef ravioli, pumpkin ravioli, beef tortellini, potato gnocchi, pappardelle, tagliatelle, fettuccini, beetroot, squid ink, lemon, porcini – there’s plenty of fresh pasta to choose from and yes the friendly staff will always offer cooking instructions.

If you can’t even be bothered to do that, there’s always Adamo’s Regional Dinners, where you can let someone else be the Masterchef.
