Gardein feeds the soul

Vegan foods for meatless meals

The rise of vegan food options is on the increase. A decade ago people would look at you askance for even asking for vegan food in a grocery store, pointing you in the direction of the vegetable section. Today there are multiple delicious options, delivering dining inclusivity.

New from Gardein are a range of sustainable high protein products that deliver great taste, as well as the texture and nutrition of meat with no cholesterol, less fat and calories – meaning it’s great for vegans and those who want a break from eating meat – but still want high amounts of protein.

These meatless meals are completely vegan made from non-GMO soy and wheat, ancient grains and veggies. A range of gluten free products are thankfully, also available. They are also dairy free and kosher.

We love Gardein’s Fishless Fillets. Not too fishy in taste, no cholesterol, full of omega-3’s and full of flavour and a bit of nostalgia for fish fingers!

Fish alternatives

These are perfect for fish(less) tacos, vegan fish and chips or a fillet-o-fish(less) burger! $9.60 for eight is good value.

There’s the Seven Grain Crispy Tenders, which are a delicious and perfectly seasoned and extra crispy making for a great replacement for chicken. Perfect for finger food as well as chicken(less) wraps, chick(less) skewers or even a salad. $9.60 for eight Tenders

The Gardein range was founded 25 years ago by a Canadian chef and culinary expert to create healthy “fast” food at home.

Available from your local Coles or Woolworths.

Michelle hails from the UK – but grew up with big flavours and spices thanks to her Singaporean Mum. International cuisine has always been part of Michelle’s life as she explored the world in the pursuit of delicious food and wine – along with a castle or two. Michelle now lives in Sydney after a lengthy stint in Brisbane (a city dear to her heart, which she visits frequently). She is letting her nose and palette be her guide as she discovers and shares exciting and delicious dining experiences. Michelle also loves, in equal measure, fashion, sunshine and puppies.
