Zhou Zhou Chinese Drinking Den

Drinking boutique beers and munching on dumplings has never looked so good. Chapel Street has welcomed Zhou Zhou found above Oriental Tea House, with open arms. From David Zhou and he team behind Oriental, you can expect the food offering to be solid. And you’d be right. But the other draw card here are the drinks. Positioned as a Chinese drinking den, they’ve spent considerable time on the drinks list.

The upstairs space, fitted out by Hecker Guthie, is relaxed, as every drinking den should be. Wicker lounge sets are surrounded by Chinese murals and greenery, creating that comfortable, yet cultured setting. Inspired by Shanghai in the 1930s.

The beer list is impressive. Over 50 craft brews are on offer from anywhere from Nagano, Japan to more local ales. Cocktails see a Japanese Bloody Mary useing Sake rather than Vodka and a kick with wasabi and chilli. Wines are well catered for too, so every one will be sufficiently inebriated.

The Zhou Zhou food menu is the perfect drinking menu, taking cues from the Oriental Teahouse’s offering.  Dishes include hand wrapped duck wontons and dim sum.

We’ll meet you upstairs.
