Vanishing Elephant

Pink elephant: A drunken hallucination.

White elephant: A valuable possession, but burdensome.

Vanishing elephant? Tangible goods you should hoard for all the right reasons.

And no, you’re not seeing things – designers Arran Russell, Felix Chan and Huw Bennett have swung open the doors of their first Sydney stand-alone store.

Not that there’s nothing to trip out over. You’ll probably find it odd all those serene vibes and that polished concrete oozing out of Westfield Bondi Junction. And the wooden framework is literally inside-out.

But among the wacky is the Vanishing Elephant you’re totally familiar with. Supple chambray shirts with classic curved hems, shiny patent derby shoes with waxed cotton laces (switch to navy for added quirk) and dreamy-soft merino sweaters with custom VE stripes.

And to fête the boys’ homecoming are a few of their local BFFs. A tightly edited selection of bags and accessories from Tailfeather plus footwear care of Jack Purcell and Buddy, jewellery by Pink LouLou and a fine selection of glossies all sit side-by-side with VE’s men’s and women’s understated offerings.

Dream-worthy wares that’ll be just as touchable come morning.
