While we sit here in multiple layers, we’re dreaming of warmer days spent lazing on the grass, eating cheese and sipping chilled wine. We’re hoping this vision includes listening to music and enjoying that beautiful vibe that summer brings. But hey, that’s just us. If none of this sounds good to you at all, you might want to look away now.

If you’re still with us, Barangaroo Reserve is going to help us ring in the warmer weather with their Welcome Celebration, kicking things off with the September Giant Picnic on Sunday September 6. The stunning six-hectare foreshore park will be transformed into a celebration of all things spring. The Giant Picnic will open with a Welcome Walk where guests can explore the area, focusing on the Indigenous foundations of the park; there will then be an Opening Fire ceremony and even traditional song and dance.
From there the day will turn into a lazy afternoon of music from the likes of Thelma Plum, Casey Donocan, and Pirra. The food will be taken care of by some of the city’s finest chefs including Clayton Donovan, Christine Manfield, Aria Catering, Bourke Street Bakery, Martin Boetz of Cooks Co-Op, and more. There will also be pop up bars for the aforementioned chilled wine as well. Including drops from Lowe Wines and cider from Batlow Cider Co.

These festivities will continue for 12 weeks with music, art, talks, family events, and of course delicious eats and drinks. Each weekend will feature different acts and activities, all fit for the entire family.
The fun starts on September 6 and continues for 12 weekends. Registration is best, even though the events are free. To secure your spot and check out the entire line up, head to the official site.

There’s no awkward communal changing; each suite has its own dressing room and aroma showers. Wrap yourself in a soft latte coloured robe and simply ring the copper hand bell when you are settled. Lying face down, three deep breaths start your Aroma Journey massage as sweeping movements increase lymphatic circulation. If you’re a lover of facials, try the Wattleseed reawakening treatment, or the premium Samadara Ultimate Age Defying treatment using techniques rooted in Ayurvedic with Rose Quartz and healing traditions.
When you are feeling this relaxed it’s a shame not to extend the experience with a stay in the hotel’s new club rooms. You’ll be whisked to the 30th Floor and welcomed at the executive lounge with a glass of your choosing. Check-in is an altogether more luxurious experience if you chose to indulge in evening canapés of kataifi wrapped prawns, scallop wontons and chicken parfait toasts. It’s the perfect place to unwind and with a level of care and attention rarely found in Australia.
Not in a million years would anyone have believed that in the centre of the Melbourne CBD, there was a giant waterslide. Waterslide Bar, the latest slick bar to join Southgate, has the stories and pictures to prove it.
While the waterslide was centuries ago, this bar is super cool, super modern and definitely with the times. There are still stunning views of the Yarra, heightened by the height of the second story balcony with a skyline of the sparkling city. The lounge like inside is cosy, shmick, and warm with a bit of edge. Find a little nook and cranny for some quiet intimacy, or spread out along the opulent bar.
