Joe’s Bar and Dining Hall

The Queen’s Birthday has come and gone but don’t worry, it’s nearly time to hop on the next festive bandwagon. America’s Independence Day celebrations are about to kick off and Melbourne will definitely be getting a slice of the action.

If we were in the States, there’d be red, white and blue bunting all over the place. Fireworks, marching bands, BBQs – 4th July parties are the stuff of legends. Downunder, we don’t waste time with all that fanfare. We go straight to the heart of things – the food.

Head to Joe’s Bar & Dining Hall from the 4th July for four days of hand-on-your-heart, artery clogging American patriotism.

The pop up menu will be big on Southern-style favourites. Try Chipotle brisket with the strange scone/potato side they like to call ‘biscuits’, pulled pork with jalapeno slaw, fried chicken, even a New York cheesecake complete with a real Graham Cracker Crust.

Chef Katrina Kigham’s piece de resistance will be the Louisiana-style Crab Boil. Brand new on the menu and big enough to share, this is definitely not date food. You’ll get your hands dirty cracking into the crab.
