Tamdhu x Saint Peter Restaurant Are Getting Togehter for Fathers Day

If you can’t secure a spot, you can still get into the action with a pour of Tamdhu. Let’s be honest: scoring a seat at Saint Peter’s Father’s Day whisky dinner is harder than getting Dad to stop talking about interest rates. But the good news? You don’t need a reservation to experience the real star of the show—Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
This Speyside distillery is matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry-seasoned oak casks, there are two expressions are featured in the Saint Peter pairing, and we have tasted. Full transparency, we have over 40 whiskies at home, we are huge lovers and these two are our absolute favourites, hands down for their balance and complexity. Tamdhu 12 Year Old – RRP $119 is delightful its bright, balanced, and quietly complex with orange, cinnamon toast, and a touch of smoke on the nose. The palate brings berries, biscuit and soft spice, finishing with dry oak and red wine tannins. Approachable, but not boring. Tamdhu 15 Year Old – RRP $195.99 is my favourite. It is deeper, darker, and built for slow sipping. I loved its butterscotch, dried fruit, and sherried spices and it has a lovely creamy, velvety palate of caramel, almond and oak. The finish is long, nutty, and quietly assertive. Available at BWS and Dan Murphy’s

Collaboration – Lanson Le Black Creation 258 x Chef Nguyen

I pop the cork and it’s not just Champagne its a story your dad will love. This bottle is a numbered blend with a legacy. Lanson’s Le Black Création isn’t your average Brut NV. It’s a reimagined classic as each bottle carries its own blend number (mine’s Création 258), since the house was founded in 1760. This is a tribute to the house’s 260-year history.
Confession – Lanson is one of my personal favourites as its big, bold, autolyse sytle hits lall my champagne buttons. Thi s bottle is so special. It is amber-gold with orchard fruit, citrus, and a brioche. The magic for me is in the layers: reserve wines aged in both stainless steel and oak, a touch of malolactic fermentation for roundness, and a backbone of Lanson’s signature acidity. What to eat with it on Father’s Day? Chef Luke Nguyen’s is a Lanson ambassador and we love his Chargrilled Lemongrass Beef Skewers are perfect for relaxed yet elevated at-home entertaining. Lanson Le Black Creation 258, Dan Murphy’s for RRP $71.99.
Little Giant Grenache 2022: Small Wombat, Big Wine

South Australia’s southern hairy-nose wombat may be pint-sized, but it’s tough, tenacious, and the state’s official emblem. Much like its vinous namesake, Little Giant Grenache punches well above its weight. Sourced from Seaview and Willunga vineyards, this hand-crafted drop is all about fruit purity, minimal intervention, and maximum flavour. It is a full-bodied red with plush berry intensity, touches of chocolate, and just enough oak to keep things interesting. Made in small 3–5 tonne batches, hand-picked, fermented in open-top fermenters, with partial aging in older oak and stainless steel to maintain freshness and balanced tannins I really loved it. It’s rich, robust, and food-friendly—think lamb shoulder with spicy cous cous and you’re in the zone. But here’s the kicker: every bottle supports WIRES, helping protect the very wombats that inspired the label. So yes, dad is drinking for a cause—and it tastes damn good. Only 258 bottles exist of this extraordinary release from Morris of Rutherglen. It is Australia’s most awarded wine and whisky brand. Distilled in “Aurora,” a historic copper still originally built in Adelaide in the 1930s and installed at the Rutherglen site in 1941. Our bottle, MRD80314 ‘Durif Cask,’ is beautifully boxed and marked with an authenticity label that nods to its provenance. We tried their whisky inspired by traditional Southern bourbon, it has much softer notes than normal but you can taste vanilla, chocolate, orange and some woody flavours. We also tried their Lady Junpier Gin inspired by London Dry Gin which had pretty notes of orange blossom, lime, jasmine, and juniper. If you are fans of Lyres, this is a far more stable formlua which once opened last for months, not a few weeks! From $35 AUD a bottle

Mover over Outlander, Blood of Blood – This is a masterclass in Highland elegance, matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso sherry casks, it delivers a rich tapestry of flavors. Czech Mates – by Budvar

I wouldn’t say I grew up on Budvar but it was absolutely my brew of choice in my twenties. The Czech’s know a thing of two about brewing which is not suprising considering they are the biggest consumers of beer in the world at 5.5litres a week. A new beer from the brewing giant hits the shelves this month after partnering with Gold Coast Burleigh Brewing. The collab using the time honoured Czech technique of double decoction mashing, where a portion of the mash is removed, boiled, and then returned to the main mash. It’s then matured for up to eight weeks, producing a smooth lager. Moravian barley and Saaz hops give it a for a classic Czech flavour, its crisp, lightly malted and it will be even more amazing to drink on a summers (not wet and wintery day). Marong
Marnong Estate – Single Vineyard Shiraz and Montepulciano

I love the elegant labels. This cool-climate Shiraz from Sunbury,Victoria is a standout. It opens with aromas of white pepper and charcuterie—think spice rack meets deli counter—before diving into a savoury palate of black olive, wood spice, and native davidson plum. It’s medium-bodied with roasted nut and herb notes adding layers of intrigue. Pair it with roast lamb or a dark chocolate dessert and let Dad bask in his own good taste.
