Baby Love

Congratulations! A delicious little bambino has been born on Richmond’s Church Street. And the proud papa? You’ve no doubt heard about restaurant supremo Chris Lucas who kindly gave us Thai hot spot Chin Chin. This time Lucas has gone all Euro-pop-yum and conjured up one hell of a cute neon and perfectly formed Italian café, pizzeria and salumi bar. Per piacere (please), meet Baby.

Think Electric Ladyland being wooed by an opera singer called Fabrizio and you get the picture.

You’ll get suitably excited about breakfasting here (or Colazione as the Italianos say) when the doors open at 7am. Juices made to order, breakfast pizzas and house made pastries. Hang out for lunch or dinner (no bookings so first in best fed) and feast away on hand made gnocci, calazone with ricotta and prosciutto and anything else on offer from the executive chef Dominic Pipicelli (Beco and Mama Baba).

Be warned the unqiue gourmet pizzas could start your very own food baby:the speciality flour is flown in from Naples and the chefs (including two Italians fresh off the plane) pan fry and grill the pizzas to create a ‘lighter-mouth’ feel. Delish.

Brace for a bit of a wait, crowds are already knocking down the doors.
