Blue, bold and beautiful

Toruk PullmanIf you were a fan of Sam Worthington (let’s face it, who isn’t?!) as a big blue Avatar (come on, he still looked good!) then you’re going to love Cirque du Soleil’s newest show. Okay there’s no surprise Sam Worthington appearances (stick with us), but TORUK – The First Flight is based on James Cameron’s famous film AVATAR. It is a breathtaking world of swirling colours, mind blowing light effects and the jaw dropping acrobatics that Cirque du Soleil is so famous for. The has been transformed into the world of Pandora. We say transformed because it is almost unrecognisable. The centre floor is a mysterious world of floating mountains, starry nights and wild winds, with beasts of all shapes and sizes. We won’t say much more, because we really don’t want to ruin it for you, but it’s a night like no other.

To celebrate Cirque du Soleil’s very short season – TORUK is only on until the 29th October – Novotel Sydney Olympic Park and the Pullman Sydney Olympic Park are hosting themed pre-show dinners that will help you get into the zone, or should we say alien world, that is Pandora. Ship the fast food outlets because Novotel’s 2 and 3 course meals are a very civilised way to wine and dine. Go the extra mile and try the Pullman’s limited time only AVATAR-themed cocktail (it will keep you buzzing through the show) before tucking into a three course feast. Both hotels are a very short walk from
