The Eastern Suburbs just got a little bit of street cred back – think exposed concrete walls, antique knitting spools and corrugated iron on the open kitchen at this brand new cafe, right on the edge of Queens Park.
Forget about boring Caesar salads and BLATs, the Queens Park Shed serves up fresh, seasonal dishes like a tasty chicken, avocado, pumpkin and freekah salad and a producer’s burger which has an almost-meaty mushroom and brioche combo worth the carbs.
If you’re stopping in for a coffee (Toby’s Estate of course), munch on “Nut Munch”, a cheeky combo of roasted almonds, oats, pecans, coconut and golden syrup that’s a pretty big sugar kick.
For breakfast there are a few staples like bacon and egg rolls on the menu, but the bircher museli is getting a reputation as a dish to start the day.
For those with young ones in tow, the converted shed sits right outside the enclosed Queens Park playground so you can grab one of the deck chairs or something to take away while the kids play.
