Bicycle built for 2000

Sydney Bicycle Film Festival
Getting hit by a bus usually inspires self-pity and some plaster cast doodles but this was not the case for Brendt Barbur, the Founder and Director of the Bicycle Film Festival.

The event, which turns nine this year, is held in 39 cities around the world. Next stop Sydney.

Free wheelin’, pedal power people will converge on the Factory Theatre forBikes Rock, an opening night extravaganza of live music including performances by Bridezilla, Jonathan Boulet, Deep Sea Arcade and Lions At Your Door.

This same group of zealots will head to Darlinghurst the following night to cycle between Monster Children Gallery, Lucky & Wolf Gallery and Chingalings for Joyride, an evening of art celebrating bikes and life on the road (or footpath).

Friday, Saturday and Sunday night see everyone don their best bike pants for the film festival which features more than 20 bike-related short films and concludes with a ‘Goldsprints’ afterparty – details to be announced in the coming days.

Embrace a life lived in lycra and feel the wind against your (shaved) legs.
