Slip Down Bondi Road to Panama House

by Amy 1 May, 2012

Jump in a 333’s slipstream and slide down Bondi Road to Panama House – a new breaky/lunch/dinner spot by the lads that brought us The Cornerhouse and Shop & Wine Bar.

A long narrow space with polished concrete floors and exposed brick walls make for a sleek warehouse feel. There’s no shortage of snappy features, from the custom made furniture (mum’s the word on the designer), copper door trims, and clever adjustable lights for optimum mood lighting. Oh, and iPad ordering for technical flair.

Secure some prime real estate by the open bay window and settle in for a good session of Bondi Road people-watching. Or nab a stool at the bar and watch the Chef get his grill on at the open taco station.

Speaking of tacos – they’re here, and they’re good. Jerk chicken, apple cider pork, beer battered fish, popcorn shrimp, Szechuan beef, coriander and jalapeño potato – served with shredded cucumber, beetroot, carrot, cabbage and knock-your-socks-off sides.

Wake up with cracker coffee and breaky options like oven-baked sweet corn fritters with tequila spiced gravlax salmon and poached egg. For lunch, you’ll find toasties and tortillas. And when the sun goes down, order a Margarita (anyway you like it) and throw back a pair of oysters with tequila lime and coriander jelly and let the good times roll.
