Yogi toys

Yoga enthusiasts, take note; there is a new toy in town. Elixr Health Club on Park Street has just installed a Yoga Wall.

This new apparatus is designed to help yogis of all levels of ‘bendiness’. If you are an absolute beginner, the wall will help you learn postures in a safe and supported way.

Mid-weight practitioners will love the wall because it will help them go the full  ‘upside down pineapple cake’ (note: not a technical term). If you are feeling like you have mastered all the moves with your feet (mostly) on the ground, this will take you to the next level.

With strategically placed loops, the Yoga Wall will even push advanced yogi-meets-pretzel people to a higher plane of physical contortion.

So what exactly is it? Simple; a wall with a system of belts that slide into wall fixtures set at different heights. Most Yoga Wall poses are related to the floor work normally practiced in a regular class and one session is all that’s usually required for most new students to get the hang of it.

It’s kind of like hanging around, with purpose.
