Wine Baptism of Fire

Emilio Estevez is doing it. The lead singer from Perfect Circle is doing it. Surely you can do it?

If you’ve ever fantasised about doing a vintage, drinking your way through Champagne or planting some vines in a sunsoaked valley, the moment of truth is nigh. Have you got the goods? There’s only one way to find out: Wine Baptism of Fire.

If you’ve never made wine professionally before and you want to have a crack, this is the competition for you.

The four finalists will be given a parcel of shiraz grapes from cold climate vineyard Mount Langi Ghiran and, under the mentorship of some serious wine geeks, turn their fruit into fun.

Based in a new city winery in the underground basement of Price of Wales Hotel in St Kilda, contestants will slave over their barrels to create wines that will be judged by Rory Kent (Young Guns of Wine founder), Matt Skinner (author) and Sally Humble (Head Sommelier Circa).

Entrants will be judged on their vision and creativity, with the public deciding the ultimate winner.
