Ready-to-wow

Prêt-à-porter Fashion Parade
Dresses for day, evening, presentation, and tea. An undergarment ensemble of petticoats, girdles, corsets, bloomers, bras, stockings and garters. At ‘home wear’ and ‘outerwear’, hats and handbags. Not to mention the menagerie of accessories and shoes. No wonder we’ve evolved the term ‘dressed up like a doll’.

Take a fashionable memory trip at the Prêt-à-porter Fashion Parade.  A stunning salon show compered by dress historian and show curator Margot Riley, featuring stunning vintage French model gowns selected from The Darnell Collection courtesy of l’Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode (ESMOD Australia).

Hear which garments signalled the wearer’s place in society, served a specific purpose and were only worn at certain times of the day, and see up close, the gowns and accessories crafted by some of the world’s great 20th century couturiers.

Remember to wear your best French threads – HermèsGuy LarocheJean Patou, andMadeleine Vionnet; all welcome.
