Melbourne Festival is back again to bring us a collection of music, theatre, dance, arts, multimedia, circus, and even outdoor events. From October 10 to October 26 there will be countless events across our fine city.
The festival is filled with local and international artists each bringing something quite unique to the line up. Mihalis Hatzigiannis, one of Europe’s greats will sing alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in one of the largest festival events. With Hatzigiannis bringing his authentic Greek pop sound, this collaboration is bound to be something to see.
Bringing the circus to town, Cirkopolis from Cirque Eloize brings together contortion and acrobatics in a show that takes a deep look into the industrial office-worker life that plagues many of us. And to give us a taste of the future of dance, Anouk van Dijk (Chunky Move Artistic Director) and Falk Richter present a dance performance Complexity of Belonging that combines text, movement, and music while channeling the notion of identity in a social media rich age.
When you need time to gather your thoughts or refuel, head to the Foxtel Festival Hub, open throughout the festival where you can enjoy the banks of the Yarra River. There will be food and wine workshops, tastings, and coffee from Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters, the official festival coffee partner. The Toby’s Estate Espresso & Shot Bar will be serving coffee in various forms from noon until 8pm throughout the festival and coffee lovers can head over to their Flinders Street cafe for workshops covering things like latte art and brewing methods.
