Look to the late Alina Galasso (1946-2009) and some of the answers might be there. The remnants of her successful Fabric Fantasy outlets – a business that imported materials from a who’s who of international fashion houses, including Versace, Armani and Valentino – are open for bids on 3 July.
It’s more than just dress-ups, though. The sale of her estate, including a selection of fine antiques and quality Italian-made reproduction furniture, decorative arts and artworks, has been put in the hands of Australian auctioneers, Theodore Bruce. And why not? Since 1878, they’ve been used to overseeing the sale of rare, special and plain old interesting items – everything from estate jewellery, to artefacts to pop culture treasures.
Later this month? A collection of 150 rare and collectable posters. No Blu-Tac allowed. Now that the Theodore Bruce catalogues are online, browsing is a breeze.
