Legally Blonde

OK ladies, don’t lie, you’ve seen the movie, more than once, and you loved it. Reese Witherspoon, a cute Chihuahua, a love story and a whole lot of pink. What’s not to love?

There was a sequel but it didn’t cut it. Well, now there’s Legally Blonde the Musical. It’s bigger, blonder and more pink if that’s possible. And a little bit naughty.

The hit number is a song titled, ‘Is he gay or European?’, a catchy hit with lyrics that take this Musical into the realms of The Book of Mormons musicals.

And who doesn’t love actual dogs on stage? A chihuahua named Bruiser and a bulldog called Rufus get almost as much applause as the stars of the show.

Almost. Lucy Durack as Elle Woods is a superstar, she’s got the American twang down to a tee and hits all the high notes. There’s Cameron Daddo as the hardcore Professor, Erika Heynatz as Brooke the murder suspect, showing off her killer abs as much her awesome voice, and Helen Dallimore who transforms Paulette the beautician into a Jersey Shore/girl next door you just have to love.

Yes, there’s lots of pink, diamantes and one liners, but everybody is lapping it up. That and the cupcakes and lemonade you can buy at The Princess Theatre. But not for much longer – catch Legally Blonde before it ends on July 14th.
