Pots of rainbow

The French President Francois Hollande deserves a high five for leading the legalisation of gay marriage but in lieu of physical congratulations, why not treat yourself to a rainbow-coloured pot from the new Le Creuset store in King Street, Sydney.

Legendary, colourful and hard wearing, this French brand of cookware is synonymous with quality craftsmanship and elite cookery.

Julie and Julia used Le Creuset and most of the world’s best Chefs do too. Perfect for slow cooking, braising, soups and stews, a red or yellow or pink or green pot with liven up your kitchen while supporting a company that calls France home.

The new store fitout was designed by UK architects Leckenby and Associates and uses beech and oak timber floors and shelves to provide a backdrop to arty features such as a casserole lid wall and a tagine lid chandelier.

Paper installation artist Samantha Gazal has designed a quirky 3D installation in the Le Creuset Sydney shop window so make sure you check that out on your way to culinary perfection.

It is a happy day when a country can stand by its promise of Liberte, Fraternite and Egalite. Let’s hope Australia follows suit. At least that wedding present is a no brainer.
