Hail Pomona, the goddess of fruitful abundance

Around town, options for the gluten free and wheat intolerant are sprouting up on many menus but the pickings are still slim.

The people behind Pomona cafe felt your frustration and have swapped up flour for spelt, crafting a dedicated space offering a great café meal and catering for the ones who don’t take dining out for granted.

In addition to the considerate menu is a family friendly set-up. All are welcome.

Roman mythology is where the name is sourced. Pomona, the goddess of fruitful abundance watches over the fruit trees, gardens and orchards ensuring their cultivation.

Celiac’s aside, lets talk coffee. Your type of café must have good coffee. Serving their own Pomona Coffee Roasters boutique bean, Pomona also presents a monthly single origin ranging from a Rain Forest Alliance Nicaraguan to a Sumatran Mandheling, and Brazilian to Honduras Fairtrade blends.

A passionate chef means the ingredients are all organic. Where possible, the produce is currently sourced locally and in time will be pulled from the three, onsite vegetable and herb garden plots, grown on the premises out the back.

Pull up a pew on the communal table covered in drawings by local artists. It makes the perfect place mat for the people of Pomona.
