Chinese chow fun

Did your parents take you to the local bowlo for Chinese when you were a kid?

It might have been a school holidays treat, a Sunday night ritual or a birthday special but one thing is for sure; Australian Cantonese cuisine is steeped in nostalgia.

If you crave being a child again for one night (perhaps to dance to Wham!, put handprints on a Hypercolour shirt or debate the kick ass virtues of our favourite Ninja Turtle), Spice Temple is giving you that chance. On Tuesday 26th March, you can time travel back to the 1980’s for a classic Chinese banquet with all the hits. Starting off with prawn crackers (naturally), the menu will progress through lemon chicken, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork (plus lots more) and finishes with a flourish: deep fried icecream.

Here’s the thing. It’s going to be awesome because Neil Perry and his crew are cooking up this veritable feast. Think old school with new school finesse sprinkled with obligatory 80’s music by Anton Monsted.

Chow with banquet of fun.
