Sydney’s donut masters are sharing their secrets

If you go ga ga over donuts, you have definitely been to Short Stop Donuts. The Melbourne megastars (of the baking world) brought their deep fried doughy goodness to Barangaoo a while back and the cult-like following followed them across state lines.

Now you’ve got the chance to go behind the scenes and find out just what it really takes to make the perfect donut. On Mondays once a month, until the end of August, Short Stop is opening its doors for an evening donut workshop with, wait for it, their head donut maker. Natalie Waugh will walk lucky bakers through the process from start to finish. You’ll make your own dough, roll and cut it to size, fry it up and get decorating. They’re even giving up the secrets to making the perfect donut glaze.

All the glaze…

What’s the catch? There isn’t one. Ok, it will set you back $100, but that’s for two and a half hours in the kitchen, and you get to walk away with a $10 voucher for the store, and your very own box of yeast-raised donuts. That’s what we call winning! Oh did we mention that you get to snack on cinnamon donuts and batch brew coffee midway through the class? Because, well, donut making needs sustenance!

Dates: 29th April, 27th May, 8th July, 29th July, 19th August
Time: 6.30pm-9pm
