Christmas in July. We mean, what a brilliant concept. The perfect excuse to get all nostalgic and eat soul-warming foods. If you’re on the hunt for a little Christmas cheer, you’ll find it right now in the heart of the city. Westfield Sydney are hosting a July Winter Food Festival from now until this Sunday July 12th and it’s as pretty as it is delicious down there.
Tall pine trees in oversized red pots have set the Christmas scene down Pitt Street Mall, and the air is filled with the smell of the complimentary food and drink tastings on offer. Grab your free coffee from the coffee cart from 7am-11am daily (Monday 6th – Friday 10th July) or if you’re in the area between 11am-2pm treat yourself to a popcorn snack from Gourmet Traveller’s popcorn stand.
If you’re keen to get out from the cold, make your way up to the Westfield Sydney dining level where you’ll find over 40 limited edition seasonal dishes to choose from (and the best news, these will be on the menu all the way until July 31st). Think a Christmas cinnamon MacDronut from Becasse Bakery, Charlie & Co’s turkey burger with cranberry and brie, a pulled pork with crispy crackling and apple slaw from Jones the Grocer and we dare you to resist the honey glazed ham and macadamia roast chutney with duck fat potatoes and vegetables at Rueben & Moore.
There’s also tea tastings happening at Laduree daily from 12pm-6pm on Level 3, and Or The Australian Women’s Weekly are hosting gourmet cookie decorating workshops on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th at 10am-11am and 2pm-3pm at the Level 6 Services Suite inside Westfield Sydney.
Cheers to a Merry Christmas in July!
