Tipsy gypsy

Hidden inside a yellow brick warehouse, Camelot Lounge is the sacred heart beating inside a very ugly lady.

Walking in you expect to find a stockroom but, at the top of the stairs, you discover Narnia (as re-imagined by an Eastern European C. S Lewis). Red velvet walls, carved wooden curios, cut-glass lanterns and a pervasive sense of ‘Baz Luhrmann’s garage sale’.

The interior isn’t controlled or suffocated or meticulous. It is unruly and passionate and as wild as a night spent dancing under a full moon. The room is as alive as the musicians who frequent the stage (Katie Noonan, Abby Dobson and Vince Jones, among others).

So what’s new? Camelot Lounge is hosting a chalkboard open mic session every Tuesday night to create an opportunity for up-and-coming performers to strut their stuff. To offset the potential pain of new blood, old blood – The Sluggs – will keep you swinging throughout the night. Cross a gypsy’s palm with a gold to gain entry and head up the stairs for a night of live music, pizza and a fully stocked bar, complete with posh Champagne for when things get out of hand.
