The X factor in TED

TEDx comes to Sydney
Evidently, some things are wholly not worth spreading – Swine Flu and spam mail quickly come to mind, but chart a scale of polar opposites and you’ll arrive at TED. Its talks, and new program of independent events dubbed TEDx, are all about ideas worth spreading.

You might have caught wind of TED’s impressive annual meets; around since 1984, beginning as a tiny community in Long Beach, California interested in technology, entertainment and design. It’s now a global movement with a Who’s Whospeaker list including Poet RivesAl Gore, Jose Abreu and Bono, Bill Clinton, Mary Roach and Hans Rosling. TED Conference tickets sell at $6,000 a pop and still boast a 15,000 strong waiting list to apply to attend.

Tedx for the first time allows you to hear a mix of our top thought leaders, given 18 minutes to inspire and generate understanding. You’ll also hear four simulcast presentations by Seth Godin, Barry Schwartz, Bill Gates and Pattie Maes. Fascinating thinkers and doers challenged to give the talk of their lives.
