The Smirnoff Black Room Exhibition

Taste is Black
When Smirnoff Black charge nine award-winning artists to interpret the ‘Essence of Black’, you’re right to assume a gallery that’s much less ordinary. A sensory journey rather, inviting you to re-engage with your five senses; sight, touch, sound, smell and taste.

We visited four of the artists – the Composer Tom Schutzinger, the Paper Engineer Benja Harney, the Shoemaker Andrew McDonald and the Painter James McGrath, in their very own studios and asked them about their thoughts on collaborating and their inspirations.

For the next week you can get a serve of noir at the Smirnoff Black Room exhibition, view the works of AFI-winning animation team PRA, renowned fashion photographer Cameron Grayson and painter James McGrath. Bespoke Smirnoff Black vodka boxes designed to engage the sense of touch will also be on display by paper engineer Benja Harney, jewellery designer Matt Weston, shoe designer Andrew McDonald and glass sculptor Morgan Shimeld. Hear the sounds of film score composer Tom Schutzinger and smell the distinctive aroma of perfume created by internationally renowned Spanish perfumer Agusti Vidal.
